I have to preface this by saying that I was just about to give up on Ms. McCarver. I had made up my mind that I was through after having read the mess that is "J-Pop Love Song." Then, I came across this. Although there were still grammatical mistakes (I've come to realize that none of Ms. McCarver's stories are thoroughly proof read, so I've learned to deal), I really liked the characters. They saved it for me here. I was a bit worried, reading a review about the pace of the relationship, but I wasn't bothered by how quickly things seemed to happen because (to me) she had the characters asking the questions I was asking in my mind as to why he would agree to marry a stranger, what was in it for both of them, etc. What did bother me a bit was the ending. That felt like it was resolved way too quickly and all was forgiven despite all the things the grandmother had put everyone through. But I'm finding that's kind of a fiction staple with Ms. McCarver also.
I haven't given up on this author just yet. Luckily, I really like her writing and see so much potential here, but the grammar has got to be fixed if she wants to garner a larger fan base and keep them happy.

The Contract Sunshine Unconventional Beginnings Book 1 edition by Shiree McCarver Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
This book is really a good book, the characters of the Grandmother of Sunshine Dupree and the Mother of Yoon Min Young are truly funny. The relationship between Sunshine and Yoon Min was smokin' hot. I enjoyed how they worked through the issues with their families. I don't want to give anything away, so I recommend anyone who love a good story, get this one! This book definitely deserves 5+ stars. Ms. McCarver, I have truly grown to love the BW/AM novels, just keep them coming!
A really enjoyable story. I loved the playfulness of the couple. The only reason why I gave the book 4 stars & not 5 is because, I was so wrapped up in the story, that I forgot about the characters ethnicity until being reminded of it by the author numerous times throughout the story. I was really annoyed by that. I think in the end we want to be loved for who we are, not what we are. That does come across in the book, but its as if the author didn't want the reader to forget they were reading about a Korean man & a African American woman.
Shiree has written another winner! You can't help but root for Yoon and Sunshine union! Two overbearing meddlers make plans to have the Yoon and Sunshine unite but things don't go according to how they planned. Yoon comes up with a plan that will serve him and Sunshine but didn't expect to fall in love. Yoon and Sunshine are great characters and they have some really hot sex! The two meddlers will make you want to choke them silly! I can't wait for more BW/AM stories from Ms. McCarver!
This book was great from start to finish. Sunshine's Grandmother and Yoon's mother come up with a plan to get them together at the beginning of the book. Yoon has been in one bad marriage an does not want to ever be married again. Leslie has been in love with Yoon since she was a little girl and thinks that he is going to marry her. When Yoon hears Sunshine arguing with her date and he leaves her without paying the bill he asks her to pretend to be she fiance if he pays her bill. She agrees and when she go home with him he asks her to be his wife he is so taken by her. Sunshine falls in love with Yoon, but when her grandmother threatens to destroy him if she doesn't come home she leaves the man she loves not knowing he also loves her. This was a great book from start to finish.
First ever Asian hero book I've ever read... But this was really good!
Two observations
1) this book should be rated more highly under the popularity sorting options, which leads me to believe this book is a little underrated by the IR readers! Take time out and read this it's really worth it! It's just long enough to feel as if you've gotten your money's worth but not too long to where you feel it drags on. The lead characters were deeply likeable and I found myself rooting for them! A sequel would be nice but I'm sure that's asking a little too much (smile)!
2) The author is seriously an underrated writer. Her style was fast laced and descriptive. She created two well flashed out characters who you wanted to root for. I enjoyed this book and can't wait to read more from her! I recommend you guys buy the book, it offers more than half the IR books that I've read!
Probability and likelihood of occurrence were not tools I used in reviewing this story. I applaud and commend the author's ability to this most unlikely scenario into an endearing story. The storyline flowed without a lot of empty filler, the characters were memorable and fun, their conversation and banter will make you "LOL" or smile and you'll get a sense that they are falling in love. Yoon Young, a Korean who is the founder and CEO of a multi-million dollar investment firm, and Sunshine Dupree, a Black American heiress to a large food store chain, meet and enter into an arranged marriage in order to arrest the matchmaking efforts of their families. Yoon nor Sunshine know that their seemingly chance encounter was set-up by his mother and her grandmother.
Excellent Story!!! Wonderfully written!
This story about a Korean guy named Yoon Young and an African American lady named Sunshine Dupree and it is so beautifully told by Ms McCarver that I didn't want it to end! Yoon and Sunshine don't have love at first sight more like dislike and distrust but as they the same going "desperate times call for desperate measures".
Ms Dupree and Mr Young do have lust at first sight and it is off the charts!
After they were married I love the part about the bedroom being the place for absolute honesty and their sexual acrobatics are panty-wetting good!
This is not your typical love story it is so much better!
